New JCT suite of contracts

The JCT has announced that it will be producing a JCT 2024 suite of contracts.

Some of the major changes from the 2016 edition include:  

  • gender neutral language
  • the use of electronic notices
  • updates to termination and payment provisions 
  • updates to take into account the Building Safety Act 2022 and the Corporate Insolvency and Governance Act 2020
  • changes which will 'reflect the objectives of the Construction Playbook'
  • incorporation of provisions that are optional in the 2016 suite relating to collaborative working, sustainable development and environmental considerations
  • a new contract - the JCT Target Cost Contract
