Kate is a principal associate with a particular focus on providing advice to the higher education sector, working alongside Gary Attle.
Kate joined the team from Kingston University, where she worked as Head of Legal Services for over 10 years. She has wide ranging experience of issues affecting higher education institutions, with a focus on legislative and regulatory compliance.
Supporting your ambitions
Kate has assisted several clients in attaining registration with the Office for Students, including drafting student protection plans. Kate develops and delivers bespoke training, including induction training for governors, covering their duties as charitable trustees, and under the Prevent duty.
Kate has developed policies for clients in areas such as anti-bribery, student complaints, safeguarding, criminal records, student disciplinaries, and freedom of speech, and has undertaken reviews of contract terms to ensure compliance with the Competition and Markets Authority guidance.
Kate has worked with clients to resolve contentious student issues, including threatened judicial reviews, and regularly advises on governance issues.

Kate has a passion for higher education, having worked as an associate lecturer, teaching contract and tort at the College of Law (now the University of Law), and later as Head of Legal at Kingston University.
