What can Richard do for you?
Richard specialises in public and administrative law and information governance, particularly in the education sector. His work covers judicial review, freedom of information and data protection as well as all aspects of the relationship between student and education institution, notably discrimination claims. Richard is a lead partner for the firm's education work in the west midlands and north west.
Supporting your ambitions
Richard has advised and supported education clients through a range of difficult and challenging litigious issues. When doing so, his first step is to seek to understand what the client's objectives and concerns are so that the strategy and approach adopted focuses on achieving those. This means that for one client he will find a quick exit route in order to avoid the burden of extensive litigation, while for another no stone will be left unturned.
Richard has particular expertise in student disputes, especially discrimination, and with his clients' relationship with regulators and inspectorates.
What do others say?
Chambers UK quotes a client as saying of Richard: "His ability to understand key points in highly complex issues quickly and accurately and reflect what this means for the client is exceptional."
What else should you know?
Richard qualified as a barrister and practised from chambers on the south eastern circuit before joining Mills & Reeve in 2001 and became one of the first barristers formally to take partnership following the change in the law in 2008.
