Tom has significant experience acting for insurers and policyholders in relation to major and complex property damage disputes, including defended liability, subrogated recovery and policy coverage matters. His instructions commonly relate to matters involving construction and engineering risks, fires, escapes of water and product liability.
Supporting your ambitions
Tom can help navigate clients through the most complex disputes. He recently acted on behalf of a roofing sub-contractor in a High Court (TCC) claim arising out of alleged defects in the construction of a hospital. The main action was valued at over £140M and the case was listed for a 10-week trial. Tom secured a favourable negotiated settlement, saving the client from lengthy and costly litigation.
Tom also has experience of various forms of alternative dispute resolution. He has attended numerous mediations and previously worked on an international arbitration (Zurich seat) and linked adjudications arising out of a multi-million-pound engineering dispute.
Tom can help provide tailored solutions for clients and has worked alongside a major transport infrastructure contractor in developing and managing a bespoke scheme which recovered in excess of £4M.

Outside of work, Tom enjoys long-distance running and he has completed the London Marathon in a time of 2 hours 59 minutes and 58 seconds, raising over £1,500 for Children with Cancer UK. He is now more likely to be found running after his two young children.
